Children Travel to the “North Pole” Courtesy of Sun Country and Make-A-Wish Foundation

The North Pole is closer than we think. On Tuesday, Sun Country Airlines took Make-A-Wish Foundation children on a 40-minute flight to the North Pole. While, in fact, the pilot drove the children from one gate, around the airfield, to another gate, upon departure, the kids were convinced that they'd journeyed to a far distant land.

The plane, which carried them, was decked out with holiday lights and garlands. Flight attendants were dressed as elves. During the flight the children sang holiday songs, listened to stories and enjoyed tasty treats. When they departed in the North Pole, Santa Claus was waiting to greet them.

As one grateful parent told WCCO, "We went through 995 days of treatment for leukemia and these little types of things are actually really big things." Watch the WCCO story here
