Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport Expanded Icelandair Schedule Enhances Transatlantic Options From MSP

Icelandair has announced it will extend seasonal service between MSP and Iceland’s Keflavik International Airport through Jan. 10, 2016 and resume it again two months later, in March 2016. In the past, the service has only been offered between May and October.

From Keflavik, travelers can connect to more than 20 destinations in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. The airline also recently announced increased frequencies from Keflavik to Europe.

“The expanded schedule means people will be able to fly to Europe via Iceland 10 months of the year rather than five,” said Jeff Hamiel, executive director/CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which owns and operates Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. “Icelandair offers an important alternative for European travel and helps keep transatlantic fares in check.”

MSP is one of only 10 U.S. airports served by Icelandair. The service is provided on a Boeing 757. In 2015, the service resumes on May 12. Icelandair flight F1656 departs Terminal 2-Humphrey at 7:30 p.m., arriving in Keflavik the following morning at 6:30 a.m. Return flight 1657 departs Keflavik at 4:45 p.m., arriving at MSP at 6:05 p.m. the same calendar day.
