MSP retailers were well represented among first place winners at the 2015 Airport Council International (ACI) awards ceremony held in Phoenix, Arizona, last week. Aveda won first place for Best Green Concessions Practice, while Hammer Made won first place for Best New Retail Concept.
Aveda MSP features locally manufactured fixtures made from 100% FSC-certified wood and between 25% and 40% pre-consumer recycled content. Wall panels and flooring were constructed from rapidly renewable materials, while all lighting comes from low-wattage LED bulbs.
Meanwhile, Hammer Made impressed the judging panel with its array of distinctive, luxury men’s shirts and accessories and its striking, all-black facade and interior. Staffed by expert stylists, the brand has reintroduced the allure of the specialty men’s shop, a concept that has proven popular with male business travelers, many of whom have become repeat clients.
