MSP operations report

The trend of more passengers and fewer operations at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) continued in April.

According to the industry group Airlines for America, more than 222 million people are expected to fly between June 1 and August 31 this year. That’s the highest number ever and 5 million more than in 2007, the last peak year nationally.

How many of those will come through MSP? Exact numbers are not known, but if April’s increase holds for each month this summer, we could see 11.5 million travelers pass through our doors.

In April this year, MSP accommodated 2,904,620 passengers, a 3.14 percent increase over 2014. The number of operations was down to 129,010, a 4.49 percent decrease over 2014. Overall for the year, operations are down 4.22 percent
