Safety Management System
Safety Management System
SMS definition and purpose
The Safety Management System (SMS) is an interconnected framework of various entities, programs, policies and processes across the Metropolitan Airports Commission and MSP that ensures operations are designed and executed effectively, efficiently and above all, safely.
SMS versus public safety and emergencies
SMS provides the framework in which airfield incidents are prevented, and how we learn from them if they do occur.
Call 9-1-1 for EMERGENCIES at the MSP Airport to be connected to the MSP Airport Emergency Communications Center.
MAC’s safety commitment
The Metropolitan Airports Commission and MSP Airport are committed to operating safely and ensuring the safety of our employees and tenants. The foundation of that commitment to safety is embedded in our Safety Management System (SMS).
For more information on the MAC’s SMS, please review the contents of this webpage.
Report safety concerns and airfield hazards
The MAC safety reporting system is for reporting non-emergency safety concerns, hazards, trends or other airport safety and compliance related matters. It is the expectation of the MAC and its airport partners that any hazard posed to operations be addressed immediately (as conditions, ability and authority permit) and then reported as soon as practical.
