New MSP art exhibits showcase crop art and quilted figures

Quilted figures and seed mosaics are on display in two new MSP Airport art exhibits at Terminal 1.

The South Mall Gallery is showcasing an iconic selection of intricate entries from previous Minnesota State Fair crop art competitions. “Corn Dog Spoon Bridge” by Charlotte Ferlic, “Prince” by Andie Wood, and “Mary Tyler Moore in Minneapolis” by Linda Paulsen are among the collection of uniquely Minnesotan works crafted entirely from local seeds.

A quilted installation in the Concourse C Art Gallery, “The Voting Line” features an arrangement of 25 life-sized figures by Minnesota-based textile artist Carol Hancuh. The hand-stitched characters depict “a cross-section of humankind, some anxious, some bored, some oblivious of their surroundings, but all there for one reason: To vote.”
