New procedure for employee security screening at Terminal 2

New procedure for employee security screening at Terminal 2

Employee security screening at Terminal 2 will transition to the TSA checkpoint beginning Monday, Nov. 4.

Except during late evening and overnight hours, employees at Terminal 2 will use the designated employee screening lane at Security Checkpoint 2, which is located on the second level across from the elevators above the L’etoile Market. The current Employee Portal will remain operational only from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Keep in mind these important employee screening reminders:

  • Employees are allowed to carry up to 32 oz. of consumable liquids through the TSA designated employee lane.
  • Tools of the trade — items used for direct performance of an employee’s job within an airport security area — will be allowed through the TSA Checkpoint.
  • Employees cannot use the Employee Portal nor the employee lane at the TSA Checkpoint for travel purposes. Violators will be prosecuted and are subject to badge revocations.
  • Refusal to comply with airport security inspections shall result in immediate removal from the Airport Security Areas, and denial of access. No person shall harass, intimidate, assault or interfere with screening personnel in the performance of their duties (MSP Security Ordinance 117).
  • Escorting is not allowed through the TSA Checkpoint. A concourse pass can be requested for an individual who needs an escort to get them through the TSA Checkpoint.

How to obtain a concourse pass:

  • Send an email to concoursepass@mspmac.org. You will be asked to provide the unbadged person’s full name (first, middle and last), gender, date of birth, and the date and time they will pick up the concourse pass.
  • Passes can be picked up at the Terminal 2 taxi booth, near the rental car counters.
  • Individuals with concourse passes must undergo standard TSA security screening. Passholders may not use the Employee Portal nor the designated employee lane.
  • Once through the TSA Checkpoint, an individual with a concourse pass will have unescorted access rights to all passenger areas. Badge holders with an “E” on their badge may escort the individual through any post-security door following MSP’s escort policy.
