Night to Unite draws a crowd at Terminal 1
Night to Unite returned to MSP Airport's (MSP) Terminal 1 on Tuesday (Aug. 2), bringing back the popular event after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
During the event's four-hour midday run, hundreds of travelers and MSP employees stopped by the tables staffed by representatives of more than a dozen airport organizations. Popular draws included Blue, the mascot of the Airport Police Department – which organizes the event – and Sparky, the mascot of the Airport Fire Department.
Night to Unite, which is organized by the Airport Police Department, is MSP's version of National Night Out, which was celebrated in neighborhoods on Tuesday evening.
"We had a great turnout, and it was wonderful to see familiar faces, catch up with employees and answer passengers' questions," said Kristi Rollwagen, manager of emergency programs at MSP. "Many thanks to all of the organizations that participated. It's a great outreach opportunity for the airport community as a whole."
In addition to the police and fire departments, participants included the TSA, the airports' Emergency Communication Center, Unifi aviation services, the Navigating MSP Program, Caribou coffee, MSP Jobs, the Airport Equity Advisory Committee, and the Airport Foundation MSP Animal Ambassadors.
