Escort and concourse pass policy update
Escort and concourse pass policy update
People who are visiting the airport as the guest of a badge holder, are here for business purposes, and need a concourse pass or need to be escorted, are limited to a lifetime total of seven such passes or escorts.
The Badging Office frequently receives requests for exceptions. We’re providing more details below to clarify our policy and its requirements.
Who can be escorted/receive Concourse Pass:
- Someone in a short-term capacity (up to seven days/visits in their lifetime)
- Leadership
- Prospective employee (unbadged for an interview)
- Attendee of a meeting
Who cannot be escorted or receive a Concourse Pass:
- Badge holders who do not have their badge with them
- Employees with a revoked or suspended badge
- Someone currently in the badging process
- Someone who applied for and was denied a badge
- Someone who needs access for more than seven days or on a consistent basis
- Un-badged persons with no legitimate reason to have access
Please make sure you are informing the companies/individuals you are escorting/requesting concourse passes for of the seven-day lifetime limit.
We are seeing many service providers and repair technicians reach their seven-day limit as they are being brought in by multiple companies operating at MSP and aren’t aware of the policy.
Previously, we had been approving exemptions if a justified request was made. Unfortunately, such requests have become too frequent, and we are now requiring all companies to abide by the policy. We realize that all airports are different, and many aren’t as strict as MSP, but this is a TSA-recommended security measure.
